Greetings Tanglen families! It's hard to believe we're only one month out from the end of the school year! We still have some fun in store though, so mark a few dates on your calendars so you don't miss out on a single day of excitement.
ON SALE NOW- The Hopkins Elementary PTO's are partnering again with Friendly Hmong Farms to bring you a fundraiser like no other! Click here to purchase a CSA (community-supported agriculture) box of fresh vegetables or a gorgeous bouquet of flowers brought directly to you each month by local Hmong farmers, and pick it up at Tanglen! Choose from 3 dates in June, July, or August, or subscribe to all 3! For every subscription sold, another box is donated to a Hopkins family in need. Want to receive a donated box? Send an email to the Tanglen Social Worker Brittany Mikkelson and she'll add you to the list!
May 1st, 2nd, 3rd- Staff Appreciation Flower Sales before school. Roses will be available for purchase for $1 before school on Mon 5/1, Tues 5/2 & Wed 5/3, in the front drop-off loop and in the back by the busses. Each student will hand deliver flowers to their favorite building staff- and don't forget about specials, paras, lunchroom staff, and custodians! They all work tirelessly to keep our school running smoothly. *Please try to arrive early if your student plans to purchase flowers. *Purchases will be limited to $10 per day in an effort to allow enough flowers each day for all students to participate.
May 5th- The 2nd annual Farmers Market for staff will be after school on Friday, May 5th. We have some items still needed for donation, so if you're able to add a few items to your grocery list this week, sign up here! Have a few hours to spare? Sign up to help us set up the market on Friday from 11-2 in the Tanglen courtyard.
May 8th- the final PTO meeting of the year. We'll have a vote on next year's budget, do some strategic planning for summer & fall events, and hold elections for next year's open at-large board positions. If anyone is interested in joining the PTO Board, please reach out to us at lhtanglenpto@gmail.com or join us at the meeting. This is an incredibly rewarding way to make an impact on your students' experience at Tanglen and we welcome any and all that are interested.
May 31 & June 1- End of year BOGO Book Fair. This is a fantastic opportunity to get some summer reading books before the end of the school year, and every single item on the fair is buy one, get one free! Book Fair will be open after school from 2:30pm-4:30pm on Wednesday 5/31 and Thursday 6/1.
June 2nd- Tanglen's first ever Outdoor Family Movie Night- Wrap up the year with some outdoor fun with friends and family. Bring a blanket or lawn chairs, join us on the back lawn for dinner & enjoy some popcorn and treats to celebrate a successful school year. The movie will be Ferdinand and you can check out the original trailer here. Tickets will go on sale May 9th.
June 7th- the last day of school! Say goodbye to the final class of 6th graders as the 5th and 6th graders head onward and upward to new adventures in middle school.
