February 23 Updates

Please take a few minutes to read a few announcements about upcoming events from your PTO.

  • COIN CHALLENGE:
    • Dig into the couch, check between the car seats, and empty those change jars, because February 21-24 is our 2nd annual COIN CHALLENGE! Last year we killed it and our goal for this year is to raise enough change to purchase EVERY SINGLE STUDENT a book at the book fair. What a fantastic opportunity to help all our students get their hands on great reading materials for spring break! The class that raises the most change will win an ice cream party!
  • BOOK FAIR:
    • The Scholastic Book Fair is right around the corner 2/27-3/3 (leading up to & during conferences), and extra hands are needed to help families shop and ring up books! Please check out these volunteer spots and plan to stop by with your kiddos for some shopping after school or during conferences.
  • TALENT SHOW 2023
    • It's already time to start planning for the 2023 talent show being held on March 28th. Auditions will be held on February 15th (3rd, 5th and 6th grade) and 16th (4th grade) during recess. This will be our chairs' last year of leading the talent show. If you're interested in taking this event over next year, please reach out to Christina Black at christinazblack@yahoo.com so you can shadow and learn the ropes this year. Don’t let this be a tradition that ends after more than 40 years!
  • DINNER ON US:
    • During conferences, PTO provides dinner for our staff, but we still need snackable items for the long days during conferences. Sign up here to donate individually packaged desserts, drinks, and/or chips. All donated items can be dropped off in the Tanglen office anytime before 3:30 pm on Wednesday, February 22nd.
  • SNACKS:
    • If you're able to provide a snack for your child, please do so. Tanglen receives snacks from a food bank non-profit aimed at making sure no student has to go without a snack. This allows them to focus on learning rather than their hunger. Due to the capacity in which Tanglen/ICA can provide snacks, we encourage all parents to have their child bring a snack daily if they can afford it. To eliminate the stigma with income inequality, no questions will be asked and any child without a snack will be provided one. Thanks for understanding as we try to meet the need.
